Tired

It's been a tiring week, and something tells me it's not getting better anytime soon!  First of all, I didn't leave the house Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.  And Thursday my lone outing was to take Lucky to the vet, which was not exactly a riot.  Friday morning our social worker came for our monthly visit, and then Pete immediately left to drive to WV to pick up our new (to us) couch from my dad.  That afternoon I had an eye appointment, which was the first "me appointment" where I had to take Brady.  It went as poorly as you might imagine it could, haha.  In fact, the whole reason I had to go to the eye doctor is pretty comical.  I accidentally threw away my last pair of contacts.  As in my very last pair for the year.  I saw the empty box in my medicine cabinet for two weeks, but it didn't serve as the reminder I had hoped.  I'm telling you, this Mommy Brain Syndrome is no joke.  Fortunately I only had to suffer through a week with my glasses and one painful eye appointment with a cranky 4 month old.  I bet I never make that mistake again!

On Saturday we had some friends/family over for a barbecue.  The weather was perfect, and it was fun to have a house full of friends.  Denise, Kim-marie, Jamie, Noel, Suzy, Chris, Rene, and Mary all came.  It was a blast and we really enjoyed the good food and even better company.

Today, unfortunately, Pete left for Arizona for two weeks.  Brady and I are very sad, but we'll do our best to survive.  I told Brady that this would be the perfect week for him to start sleeping through the night, but he remains skeptical.  We're going to take a trip to West Virginia next weekend, so at least we have that to look forward to!

Party people

Brady had a busy social calendar this weekend.  We went to Meredith and Steve's house on Saturday evening for dinner, and Brady noticed baby Sofie for the first time.  We were eating dinner at their kitchen table, and Brady was in the high chair next to Sofie in her swing.  He literally sat there with his neck craned toward her throughout the entire meal.  I can't be sure, but I think he may have asked her out.

On Sunday we went to Elena's 2nd birthday party.  The weather didn't cooperate with the outdoor party that was planned, but we had a lot of fun indoors instead.  I can't believe that Elena is already two!  Time really flies.

This week's challenge is trying to get the house clean before our (hopefully last) social worker visit on Friday.  Monday was a bust, but maybe today Brady will feel like napping!

Summertime, and the livin' is easy

We've had some nice visits with family and friends over the last week.  Pete's Uncle Rene and Mary came over one evening, and my Aunt Nancy Rae and Uncle Norman were here this weekend.  Brady and I had an adventure on Monday shopping with Suzy in a cute little town nearby.  It was nice that the weather finally dropped below 90 degrees for one day!  The ice cream was totally worth the drive.

Today we got word that our adoption finalization hearing will likely be held in late August/early September.  That means we will be traveling to Florida again soon, but probably just for a night or two.  We've also got a trip to Wisconsin to plan, we need to find a weekend to go to West Virginia, and Pete goes back to Arizona in two weeks.  It looks like we'll continue to be busy busy busy over the next couple months!
