An introduction and more waiting

Last Saturday evening Bethany and Mike were kind enough to invite us to their house for dinner and to finally meet Sam! They came home from Colombia on December 17, but between the cruise, holidays, and our WV visit, we just couldn't get there any sooner. We had a lot of fun playing with Sam and all his cool toys, but watching him eat dinner was perhaps the most entertaining event!

Mostly, it was heartwarming seeing how happy they all are. It was really wonderful to finally see Beth and Mike as parents. And the visit helped to give us a little faith in the process when we needed it most. Beth reiterated what our other friends who have adopted have said- that they believe that they were meant to be united with their children. While the wait is awful, our child must not be ready for us yet. We have to try to continue to be patient and wait to be united with "the one." Michale Bublé has a song out now, "Haven't Met You Yet," that reminds me of our wait. I know it's not meant for our situation, but the lyrics definitely speak to me.

I read an interesting article recently on rainbowkids.com. It reported that in 2009, the number of international adoptions completed by US citizens has declined by 27%. It does a nice job of explaining some of the factors that have contributed to the situation. Here is the link if you would like to check it out: http://rainbowkids.com/ArticleDetails.aspx?id=683.
