First day of preschool

Today was Brady's first day of preschool!  I've been very nervous about this day for a long time, but all in all it was a success.

Brady got to meet his teachers and play in the classroom for a couple hours on Friday, and I think that really helped.  Plus we've been reading and talking about school for months now so he would know what to expect.

We walked to the bus stop this morning and Brady was really excited for the school bus to come.  He would yell for the school bus (as if it were playing hide-and-seek).  It finally came, but he was a little unsure when the time came to get on.  The bus aides strapped him in and they let me on for a quick picture.

The house was terribly quiet after he left, so I decided to go to the gym and grocery store.  Of course I forgot my list and coupons (I wonder where my head was), so I had to make a quick trip home in between.

His bus home was 15 minutes late, but just as I was starting to worry I saw it coming down the street.  Brady was sound asleep, which did not bode well for his afternoon nap!

Brady gets a daily sheet sent home to tell me how he did.  Today he played with play doh and puzzles.  During circle time his teacher said he was very energetic, haha.  Overall his mood was happy, and she said he did great today!  Yes, it was even underlined.  Whew!  Let's hope things continue to go this well.

We went to Sport Bounce last week to squeeze in some fun before school started.

He loves the slide!

A kid-powered train. Great idea! Except really Mommy had to power it from behind. My poor back!

One last slide.

And for our last splash of summer, we hit the fountains for a little fun.

Wait, last time I was on one of these I was able to sit in the driver's seat!

Catching up

It looks like I am way behind on my posts again, so it's time to play catch up!  Here's what has been happening:

We finally made it to the county fair.  Pete has been wanting to go for years, but we were usually on vacation during fair week.  This time we weren't, so he was really excited to take Brady to see all the animals.  It didn't quite live up to the Wisconsin fairs that Pete knows and loves, but really, we're not exactly living in farm country over here.  We ate some greasy food and made the best of it.

We also took a quick trip to Ocean City WITHOUT BRADY!  It was really fun for the two of us to get away, especially considering it's probably going to be the last chance we get for a long time.  We really enjoyed ourselves despite less than perfect weather, but we sure were happy to see Brady again when we got home.  It sounds like Brady kept Grandma, Grandpa, and the uncles on their toes all weekend, and he certainly had as much fun as we did.

Ahem

What's this news?

Yeah!
So happy!

So... Remember back in May when I announced that we were expecting?  Well, evidently that statement was much more literal than I realized at the time.  Yep, I'm pregnant!  What a crazy surprise!  I'm due January 11, and we just found out that we are having a boy!  We're so excited for Brady to have a little brother.  This house is going to be wild in a couple years, watch out!

Just when you thought Brady's summer couldn't get any better...

Brady has had a fun-filled week with his friends!  On Tuesday we went to see our pals at the animal park with Suzy and Allie.  It was only our third time there, but Brady recognized where we were as soon as we got out of the car.  I could barely keep up with him as he went running to see his favorites.

Wednesday was our turn to host playgroup.  We decided to have a water party in our back yard, so we set up a baby pool, water table, and sprinkler.  Brady had a ball!  I couldn't even get him out of the pool when the other kids left.  I finally had to bribe him with tv to get him inside!  I don't know what took me so long to buy an inflatable pool- it was the best $10 I've spent in a while.

Today we had Allie over to continue our water fun.  It was a perfect day for it since the heat index was over 100 degrees again.  They are so cute together, and Brady was asking for her this evening.  She's so much fun to be around, it's no wonder she's his favorite little friend.
