We had a wonderful vacation in Myrtle Beach last week ("Mordor" Beach, if you ask Brady). This road trip was definitely more tolerable than last summer's drive to NC, so I think we're making progress!
| One of the first things we did was head down to the beach, naturally. Uncle Dustin, Pop Pop, and Uncle Daniel were happy to oblige. |
| But guess who was terrified of the ocean? Sigh. |
| After a half hour of trauma, we moved to the pool where the little man was much much happier! |
| I'm not sure Pop Pop loved the chilly water, though. |
| Brady was pretty content there, too. |
| After catching up on her beauty sleep, Aunt Casey came down to join us |
| Our balcony faced one of the pools and the ocean. If we were in our room, the boys were always right here watching the action. |
| On one rainy afternoon we (Brady) decided to ride the Sky Wheel. |
| The view from the top. |
| I was less than thrilled, but hey, we're all making sacrifices. |
| After the ride, we refueled with a little (ahem) snack. |
| Thus began Nathan's food tour of Myrtle Beach. |
| View of the Sky Wheel from the pier. |
| Tried a little more desensitization, minus the bathing suits this time. Still scared, but better. |
| The next morning we went to Brookgreen Gardens to see the sculptures and the zoo. We enjoyed the gardens, but Brady made it known that he had no intentions of seeing animals that day. Loud. And. Clear. |
| OMG OMG OMG does anyone see that bear? |
| Brady's turn to ride |
| This one reminded me of Nathan. |
| We finally had a morning that wasn't overcast so I was able to get some good sunrise shots. |
| Our hotel, The Caribbean Resort |
| This is a picture of Brady PRETENDING his fist is an ambulance. Unprompted. This is big for him! |
| Nathan jumped in before Pete was ready for him. |
| Our little fish |
| Taylor LOVED Nathan |
| Back to the boardwalk for another trip on the Sky Wheel |
| I sat this one out- Brady was in good hands with Uncle Dustin, Grandma, and Pop Pop. |
| Brady thought skee ball was the coolest game ever. |
| Uncle Daniel, Chase, and Clifford get cozy |
| FORE! |
| Nathan became an additional obstacle to putt around. |
| Fireworks off the pier |
| On our last day Nathan finally got a little braver at the beach. |
| He even splashed! |
| But then he got scared and had to be held again. :) |
| One last visit to the boys' favorite pool. Nathan was doing a great job kicking! |
| Skipper goes everywhere with us these days. |
| I watched this happen across the pool in slow motion. |
| See how Pete's got his hand out but he isn't watching? |
| Nathan went head-first into the pool. |
| That didn't phase him. Just don't show him an ocean wave. |
