Thanksgiving & 11 months old

Getting ready for Christmas has really put me behind on updating the blog!  We've got some fun stuff planned for this weekend (well, we did before Brady got sick yet again), so I had better clear the camera asap.

We went to WV for Thanksgiving, Pete's favorite day of the year.  You know the pure excitement kids have when they run downstairs to see what Santa brought them?  That's the look he gets when Thanksgiving dinner is served.  He trains for this all year.

A special cake for Dad's and Pete's milestone birthdays this year

No Thanksgiving is complete without a little garage band

There's nothing more entertaining than unloading a fridge.

We took Brady to his first WVU football game while we were in town.  I've been so excited to do this, and it was even more fun than I had imagined.  When we first sat down and saw the players on the field warming up, Brady immediately started yelling "Go Redskins!"  But once we pointed out the flying WVs and set him straight he was all in.  In fact he woke up from yesterday's nap saying "Go Mountaineers!"

Back home again, and Nathan got back to getting into everything.

Trouble.

Check out this physique

Can someone help me out in here?

In the interest of saving time (and my sanity), we opted for a pre-cut tree this year.

Santa rode by our house again, ho ho ho!

Nathan turned 11 months old this week.  It's the last time we'll count his age in months, so it's a little sad.  He weighs 27 lbs (hello, mommy's biceps!) and is definitely getting taller, although we haven't tried to measure his height outside of the doctor's office.  Probably the biggest gains we've seen lately are his speech and his fine motor skills.  He is starting to imitate sounds (kiss and cough sounds are pretty cute), and he will babble when he is reading his books on his own.  He is doing a great job isolating his index finger to pry things open and to pinch tiny crumbs of dirt to eat off the floor.  He's started to wave, and I can't be certain, but I think I saw him try to clap today.  All in all he's growing up much faster than we'd like, but we just adore the happy and curious stage that he is in now.

Nathan's first time in the snow

You see Nate, it's fun to build snowmen, make snow angels...

Man down! Man down!

This snow bunny is 11 months old today!

The snow-crawl (Nathan was trying to get himself the heck out of there)

Overall, Nathan was not impressed with the cold, wet stuff.

But Brady liked how he could go super-fast down a snowy slide

Brady's first snow day of the school year. Time to put him to work.
He insisted he needed a bigger shovel.

And when we were done, he decided he should shovel snow from the road back into our driveway.

Perhaps something even cooler than Santa coming up our street...

Snow day #2: let's make some salt dough ornaments!

A blue Christmas tree? Brady says yes.

Nana and PopPop gave the boys this cool card with fiber-optic lights. Nathan is literally very into it.

A little cabin fever means it's basement ball pit time!

Mommy? Are you sure this is a good idea?

Ah, that's better

Brady digs his new haircut

I believe this will be the first of many wrestling matches between these two.

Lordy, Lordy

Guess who's 40?  We officially have an old geezer in the house.  I had intentions on celebrating Pete's birthday in style, but as the day grew nearer, reality set in and it became clear that I could accomplish almost nothing!  I'm sure I'll have it together by his 50th.  Be on the lookout for that Evite.

That dryer is amazing.

I've got a new running partner!

Brady is big on playing "construction site" lately

'Tis the season for lots of leaves

This is what happens when I leave Nathan for 5 minutes to chop an onion.

We were lucky to have nice weather for a few days for a little back-yard photo shoot

And it did literally take me three days to get five decent shots!

We got to extend swim season yet again with Lilliana's awesome birthday party

Brady and Sam have a snack break

Tired puppy
Nathan is finally showing an interest in books, hurray!

Pete wanted to go out to dinner for his birthday. I have no idea why.
Nathan appreciated all the cool things to look at at the restaurant, but it sure was hard to feed a moving target.

Happy Birthday Pete. We sure do love you.
