Another day in paradise

Today was a rough day for Brady. Lots of poking and prodding, needles, cuts, etc. He also had an upset tummy- evidently all the spitting up yesterday wasn't exactly normal. The nurses switched him to soy formula today and it seems to be helping. He was a little squirmy for most of the day, but he finally settled down this evening.

We were officially initiated as parents (of a boy at least) tonight with our last diaper change. Yep, pee sprayed everywhere. It was hilarious- I had no idea such a little person could store quite that much!

We stayed at the hospital until about 9:30 pm. I would have loved to stay later- it was so hard to leave him- but we have packing to do. It was another great day of hanging out, trying out our parenting skills (with the helpful nurses only a couple rooms away), and spending time with BM. It has been a real blessing to be able to get to know her over the past couple of days. We are very lucky.

Here are some pictures from today... they look a lot like the pictures from yesterday, but we'll be moving on to new scenery soon enough! They put him in a different hat today, which made him look like a Glow Worm when he was all swaddled up (remember those?). My favorite pic from today is the one with the hat halfway down his face. Classic.






When we got back to our hotel room tonight we were greeted with a fun surprise! Dad, Lyla, Daniel, and Dustin (aka the new grandparents and uncles) sent us flowers and balloons. They are beautiful, and best of all they are in a flat basket so they will travel well to our next destination! Speaking of which...

Tomorrow morning at 8 am BM is scheduled to sign the adoption papers. We'll be there at 8:30 to do our part, and assuming all goes according to plan, we'll be able to take Brady "home" when he is discharged, which hopefully will be around 10 am. We'll then be moving to our final leg of the race, er, journey- the condo in Englewood. That is where we will wait to hear the all-clear from our agency to be able to leave the state of FL. This process can take anywhere from 7-21 days, but we're told it's usually 7-10. But really, if I'm going to be trapped somewhere, what better place to be than the Sunshine State?

We'll update the blog as often as we can, but we are not sure if we'll be able to get internet in the condo. Never fear, though- there is a library not far away and a Subway around the corner that is rumored to have wi-fi.
